I was recently asked to watch and review the faith based film “Wildflower” which releases to DVD April 5 2016 and will air on Lifetime in June, and offer a giveaway for 2 DVD copies of the film.
Now, here’s the thing with faith based films: they can not be held to Hollywood standards because 1. they don’t have a Hollywood budget and 2. see number one.
With that in mind, I want to say that I am typically not a big fan of faith based films because of the cheese factor that is laid on so thick in these movies. Wildflower, however is a huge step in a different direction.
This storyline is almost dark and twisty. In fact, I’d call the plot line brave for the faith based film industry.
Chloe Moray is an art student who is suffering from the affects of some suppressed memories that are trying to resurface in her life. Through the confusion of trying to figure reality from dreams and hallucinations, Chloe finds her way to a guy named Josh who is struggling with his own proverbial demons. Together they seek for the truth and redemption that they both need.
There were a few pieces of the story line that I wish had been further developed, but ultimately, this film pushes the faith based film industry out of it’s comfort zone into an edgier environment where it’s voice is certainly needed, and with the right budget and direction, could absolutely find a new target audience that is desperate for it’s influence.
I have 2 copies of this DVD to giveaway, courtesy of Icon Media Group! This giveaway runs until Tuesday morning at 10 am CST. Comment below with your current favorite movie, faith based or otherwise! Please make sure to include your email address so I can contact you if you win!
