I was just reading a friend’s update on Facebook about a storm passing through New York right now and suddenly I got very excited for the winter season. I’m not mourning my days at the pool anymore and I’m totally ready for grey skies, hot chocolate, hoodies and, one of my most favorite things about winter . . . the return of the Gingerbread Latte. I know most of you got excited about the Pumpkin Spice return, but I’m not a fan. I am picky about pumpkin . . . Maggie Moo’s Creamery has the best pumpkin ice cream in the world, FYI… I digress.
I just love the winter, and Texas has proved to me in the past 3 years (after literally PROMISING my oldest son that we wouldn’t have snow) that it is capable of a decent attempt at colder temperatures, treacherous roads and 5 days off school because of legitimate snow-fall. Granted, with these same conditions and even worse, growing up in Canada we never ever had a snow-day. Ever. But still, Texas has given me some hope, so today I’m excitedly dreaming of cloudy, dismal skies, maybe a power outage (only for a few hours though), rushing into Starbucks to purchase my own personal bottle of Gingerbread syrup, and making pumpkin everything.
I’m dreaming alright . . . it’s still a nice 78 degrees outside right now, and I’m in shorts and a tank top, but I’m eyeing my flannel pajama pants and anticipating the US release of Season 3 of Downton Abbey. Come on winter. Show me what you’ve got.
